7 Last Minute Tips to Crack JEE Advanced 2019

Now that you have qualified JEE Main 2019 exam, you have already won half the battle to getting selected at IIT. You are now within the top 2,24,000 students selected from about 12 lakh students who appeared in the JEE Main exams. IIT JEE Advanced is one of the toughest examinations of India. It is the screening process conducted to give admission to 23 IITs of the country. By cracking this exam, students get the golden opportunity to get into Bachelor of Technology programs offered at the IITs.

This time is very crucial for you when it comes to preparing for JEE Advanced 2019 exam. The way you spend this time will determine whether or not you will get into your dream college, one of the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs). JEE Advanced 2019 exam will be held on May 27, so you hardly have 2 weeks’ time in hand. To help you, here we have listed last-minute tips to crack JEE Advanced 2019.

Tip # 1. Chalk out your Action Plan

Being methodical and disciplined is very important to crack JEE Advanced 2019 Examination. Establish definite goals to be achieved in the remaining time. Analyze whether you achieved the goal or not before you go to bed. Make a time table and layout clearly what you need to achieve each day.

Try to include following goals to your daily list:

  • Topics to study from each subject (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics)
  • Solve numerical related to topics
  • Solve at least one sample paper, practice paper or previous years’ paper

Questions in JEE-Advanced are more application based; so practice a lot of application-based and conceptual questions, possibly from mixed of different topics. At this stage, it is best to consolidate your position by working on your strengths rather than trying to muster up the courage to take on your weak areas. At best you can think of mastering your weak areas in stuff like calculation errors and nothing more!

Tip # 2. Focus more on concepts and solve plenty of numericals

In JEE Advanced rote learning will not fetch you good scores. Focus more on understanding the topics rather than rotting Formulae, Theorems and Reactions. Solve as many High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) numericals as you can, related to the topic.

In JEE Advanced mostly questions are asked based on application of concepts and fundamental you have learnt. So, try to practice those questions which include real life problems.

Tip # 3. Practice Previous Years’ Question Papers:

Previous Years’ question papers help in knowing the difficulty level and type of questions asked in the IIT JEE Advanced 2019 Examination. Practicing these papers within time limit give you an idea of how to attempt actual paper. It also helps in managing time. Practicing previous years’ question paper also help you to know where you are making mistakes. Practicing these papers will fuel your confidence for the actual examination.

JEE Advanced 2019 will be conducted in computer-based mode (online mode). Tip # 5. Clear Your Basics and Doubts 

First finish your NCERT books as these books will create your base & you can learn all the basics. Try to finish entire 11th and 12th syllabus as soon as possible. The JEE syllabus of class 11th and 12th contributes about 45% and 55% of the IIT-JEE question papers, respectively.

If you are having any doubt regarding any topic or subject, clarify that at the same time, or else it may hit you hard in the end. You have your teachers, friends, mentors and previous aspirants, so turn to them when you find the need. Don’t be afraid to ask. This will not only clear your doubt but also help you to think in your own and innovative way.

Tip # 6. Time Management

IIT is not about solving all questions, but it is about solving decent number of questions in a given interval of time. If you are unable to solve a question, please don’t spend an hour on that, move on to the next question and try to solve easy questions rather than focusing your time and energy on difficult questions. Take more tests. Improve your speed and accuracy. Measure how fast you are able to crack. Time management is crucial in solving IIT papers.

Tip # 7. Sleep well, Eat well

Go to sleep for at least 7 hours but do not exceed 8 hours of sleep each day. Exercise daily. Go for a walk, jump rope or play active sports for at least an hour a day. Eat healthy and balanced food and drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.

As your JEE Main is over and you are done with fundamentals, now it is high time to take challenges. Study difficult topics when you are at your brightest and most alert and solve difficult problem when you are well-versed with the concept. Now, it’s time to move from your comfort level and put extra effort so, that you do not loose chance to be in IIT this year.
