To conduct a smooth and transparent entrance to NEET 2024, NTA has come out with new rules and dress code for the NEET 2024 exam. The dress code refers to the proper attire that should be worn by male and female candidates while appearing for the NEET 2024 exam. Candidates are strictly advised to read all the below-listed rules/regulations, dress code, and barred items list set by the board authority before appearing in the exam.

NEET 2022 Dress Code Controversy

In recent years, the exam has been surrounded by controversy over dress codes and cheating. In the 2022 NEET exam, controversy erupted, as many students especially females and their parents criticized the guidelines for being discriminatory and unnecessary. Some students were also denied entry into the exam center because of the breach of the dress code. Several complaints were filed by students while the NTA authorities have defended the dress code policy as necessary for preventing cheating and ensuring fairness.

The NTA authorities have decided to implement a strict dress code pattern to avoid irregularities during the exam. It is advisable for candidates who are appearing for NEET 2024 to read and follow the rules and regulations strictly to avoid future hassle.

New Rules and Regulation

After the controversy over strict rules over the dress code for NEET 2022 exam, a lot of questions may pop up in your mind like – what dress should I wear while going to NEET centre. Here is all you need to know and follow while appearing for the exam.

The NEET 2024 guidelines propose a separate dress code for males and females as per the notice issued by NTA.

NEET 2024 Dress Code for Male Candidates

Allowed

  • Candidates should wear only light clothes like Shirt having half sleeves only with trousers.
  • The button of shirt should be of medium size.
  • Wear only slippers or sandals.

Not Allowed

  • No candidates are allowed to wear kurta Pajamas.
  • Shirt or T- shirt button in bigger size is not allowed.
  • No zip pockets or pockets are allowed.
  • Shoes are not allowed.
  • No shirt or T-shirt with full sleeves

NEET 2024 Dress Code for Female Candidates

Allowed

  • Female candidates should wear light clothes with half sleeves.
  • Wear salwar and half – sleeves kameez with small size button.
  • Wear slippers or sandals having low heels.
  • Muslim applicants can wear traditional dress like Hijab/Burqa but they should report at least an hour before the last reporting time i.e. 9.30 AM for proper frisking.

Not Allowed

  • Clothes should not have big buttons, brooch/badge, flower etc.
  • No candidates should be wearing ornaments like a ring, earrings, bangle, nose-pin, chain/necklace, or any kind of jewelry.
  • Hair Clip, Big Rubber Bands, Bracelets, Bangles etc are not allowed.
  • Leggings and palazzo are not allowed.
  • Full sleeves are not allowed.
  • Candidates must avoid wearing high heels and thick sole shoes.

What is Allowed To Carry In the NEET 2024 Examination Hall?

Only two things are allowed to be carried inside the examination hall.

  • Admit card with a passport-size photograph affixed to it.
  • One passport-sized photograph is required to be affixed to the attendance sheet.

Things Not Allowed in NEET Examination Hall – Barred Items

The candidates need to know the things that have to be avoided in the examination hall.

  • No stationery items like textual material (printed or written), bits of paper, Geometry/Pencil Box, Plastic Pouch, Calculator, Pen, Scale, Writing Pad, Pen Drives, Eraser, Calculator, Log Table, Electronic Pen/Scanner, etc.
  • No communication devices like Mobile Phones, Bluetooth, Earphones, microphones, Pager, Health bands, etc.
  • No Wallet, Goggles, Handbags, Belt, Cap, etc.
  • No wristwatch, Bracelet, Camera,Bluetooth device, metallic item, etc.
  • No eatable item opened or packed, water bottle, etc.

Important Note:

  • No arrangement will be made at the centers for keeping any articles/items belonging to the candidates.
  • In case any candidate is found in possession of any of the barred items inside the centre, action will be taken against the candidate in accordance with the relevant provisions.
  • In case, candidates are coming in a customary dress like HIJAB/BURQA for appearing in the examination, they should report at least an hour before the last reporting time i.e. 9.30 AM, so that they could be frisked properly.

All the above-mentioned points should be followed mandatorily by all the test-takers since it will help them pass the frisking procedure. The authorities will surely use highly sensitive metal detectors for checking purposes. It is again advisable for students to follow the NEET dress code cautiously to avoid any future hassle and misconduct charges against them.
