2,24,000 Candidates to be shortlisted For JEE Advanced 2019-Check Eligibilty Criteria

Engineering aspirants take note! Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, has released a notification on its official website regarding the upcoming JEE Advanced 2019 examination. As per the official notice, the top 2,24,000 candidates (including all categories) of JEE Main 2019 examination will become eligible for the JEE Advance examination. However, the total number of candidates may be slightly higher than 2,24,000 in the presence of ‘tied’ ranks/scores in each category.

JEE Advanced 2019 Registration Process

The registration process would begin in May first week after JEE Main 2019 Final result and ranks are declared. The cut off for the JEE Advanced 2019 examination would be shared at the time of declaration of JEE Main 2019 Rank. As per National Testing Agency circular, the JEE Main 2019 rank is expected to be announced by April 30, 2019.

JEE Advanced 2019 Registration Fees

For Indians (including PIO/OCI)

  • Female Candidates (all categories): Rs 1,300 + GST
  • SC, ST, PwD candidates: Rs 1,300 + GST
  • For all other candidates: Rs 2,600 + GST

For Foreign Nationals

  • Candidates from SAARC countries: USD 75 + GST
  • Candidates from Non-SAARC countries: USD 150 + GST

Registration Fee in Foreign Countries

  • All Indian citizens (including PIO/OCI): USD 75 + GST
  • Candidates from SAARC countries: USD 75 + GST
  • Candidates from Non-SAARC countries: USD 150 + GST

JEE Advanced 2019 Eligibility Criteria

  1. Performance in JEE Main 2019 – Candidates must score qualifying marks in JEE Main 2019 to be among the top 2,24,000 eligible for JEE Advanced 2019.
  2. Age limit of candidates – Candidates must be born on or after October 1,1994. However, SC, ST and PwD candidates are provided 5 years relaxation i.e. their birth date should fall on or after October 1, 1988
  3. Number of attempts – JEE Advanced allows only 2 chances to appear in exam in two consecutive years. Candidates should not have appeared for JEE Advanced 2017.

  1. Appearance in Class 12th board or equivalent qualifying examination –
  • A candidate must have appeared for Class 12th examination for the first time either in academic session 2017- 2018 or 2018-2019.
  • However, if the examination Board of Class 12th has announced the results for the academic session 2016-17 after June 2017, then the candidates of that board who appeared for their class 12th board exam in 2017 are also eligible, but they meet the other eligibility criteria.
  • If the Board of Class 12th examinations have declared the results for the academic year 2016-17 before June 2017 but the result of the applicant was withheld, then he/she is not eligible for JEE Advanced 2019.
  1. Earlier admission at IITs
  • A candidate must NOT have secured admission in any of the IITs even if they have not attended the classes in the program.
  • Candidates who were admitted at any of the IITs but their admission was cancelled after joining due to any reason are also NOT eligible.
  • Candidates admitted in a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2018 can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019.

For Foreign candidates, only criteria 2,3,4 and 5 are eligible. Indian citizens are required to fulfill the criteria as mentioned above. Also, Supreme Court had last month ruled that the upper age limit for IIT JEE examination should be removed. Hence, the eligibility criteria as mentioned in point 2 is expected to be modified. You are advised to keep a close check on the official website of JEE Advanced which is jeeadv.ac.in for clarification on the age limit order.
