How To Be More Productive While Preparing for NEET

NEET 2021 exam is approaching closer with every passing day. It is scheduled to be held on 12TH September 2021 by, NTA. It’s time to prepare and get ready for the exam and for that you should know how to utilize the remaining time in the most efficient way.

All NEET aspirants have the same amount of time; it is only the proper planning and execution that makes a significant difference.

To be successful in NEET one of the most important qualities is to increase your effectiveness during preparation. This happens when you do more work in less time, you may refer to it as “smart work”. NEET syllabus is as vast as the ocean and if you want to crack NEET on the very first attempt then you have to prepare smartly. Your success in NEET is bound to come if you do hard work in a smarter way.

  1. Make Study Plan

 Abraham Lincoln once said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe”. It simply means preparation is the key to success. If you are preparing for the NEET exam, then in the first 4 weeks you need to go through the syllabus and understand the pattern of the exam by analysing neet previous year question paper. It will give a clear idea about what to study and what not to study and which chapters are more important in terms of weightage. You need to make a proper Study Planner before starting your preparation. Know the best resources for NEET exam preparation, analyse your strength and weakness in all the subjects, and make your plan accordingly as to where you need to put more effort.

  1. Time Management

Apart from this, as the NEET syllabus is very closely related to NCERT content, therefore you don’t have to stress too much to separately prepare for Board exams.

Time management is the process of organizing and planning how to divide your time between specific activities. Many aspirants fail to make proper use of time. Your success depends on managing time efficiently. After making your Study Planner, make a `To-Do’ list and strictly follow it. Plan short intervals in your study time. Try to study for 1 hour and then take a 5 minutes break. Similarly, after 3 hours take a 15 – 20 minutes break. It will keep your mind fresh and focused. Also, make sure that you get enough sleep. Most people need 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night to remain focused and alert during study periods.

  1. Make your own notes

To pass the NEET or any other exam, you must have a solid understanding of the subject. Identify the main points of a topic and summarise it in your own words. Create flow charts for various processes. It is critical that you develop a note-taking method that is appropriate for your learning style and works well for you.  Some choose to use coloured stickers, pens or highlighters to identify important key concepts, terms or definition. You can also use short-forms, symbols or abbreviations when writing notes. What is important is that your notes make sense to you and you understand your own style of note-taking. It will be very useful and easy to revise these notes before the final exam.

  1. Practice Mock Test Papers

One of the greatest challenges of NEET examination is the time limitation. You have to answer 180 questions in only 3 hours i.e. 180 minutes. It means you can spend maximum of 1 minute per question. So, try to solve as many Mock Test Papers as you can and in set time (simulate exam time). It is very important to analyse your mistakes immediately after giving the test.
