Group D Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Exam is one of the largest recruiting organization in India. Every year the Group D Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) of India announces numerous vacancies and conducts exam for recruitment of fresh talent in the country. This year, RRB is going to fill 62,907 vacancies for Group D posts by March – April 2019. It is a golden opportunity for all those who wish to work in the Indian Railways. There are lakhs of aspirants who apply for RRB exam every year, but only handful of them clear it. Proper preparation is extremely important to clear this exam!

Know the Exam Pattern & Selection ProcedureMTG RRB Group D Book

The first and foremost thing that an aspirant must know is the pattern of exam. The selection process of the RRB group D recruitment comprises of the following three stages:

  • Computer Based Test (CBT): This would be an online test of 90 minutes and will have 100 multiple choice questions (MCQs)
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET): In this, a candidate’s physical capabilities will be tested by means of some tasks. These would be different for men and women.
  • Document Verification.

Exam Pattern: Computer Based Test (CBT)

The Computer Based Test will be the first stage of selection that will be based on the following pattern:

There will be negative marking for incorrect answers in the CBT stage. In case of an incorrect answer, 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question will be deducted for each wrong answer. All those candidates who have participated in Railway Group D examination need to know their Category-wise Cut Off Marks to proceed with further Selection Procedure. So below you can check minimum qualifying marks for unreserved, OBC, SC, ST Categories.

Category-wise Minimum Qualifying Marks in CBT 

Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories:

  • Unreserved – 40%
  • OBC – 30%
  • SC – 30%
  • ST – 30%

This percentage of marks for eligibility would be relaxed by 2% for PWD candidates in case of shortage of PWD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.

Exam Pattern: Physical Efficiency Test

Based on the merit of the candidates in the CBT, candidates will then have to undergo Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which is differ for both male and female. As per the RRB guidance, the total number of selected candidates for PET would be two times the community wise total vacancy of the post notified against RRBs. However, Railway reserve the right to increase/decrease this limit as required to ensure availability of adequate candidates for all the notified posts. Passing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory to go further for next final stage i.e., document verification. The criterion for PET is as following:

Learn the syllabus by heart

Once you are thorough with your exam pattern and other details, it is essential for you to know the syllabus of the exam and place it on your study desk or on the book-shelf in your room. It would enable you to keep a tab on the subjects that you are required to study for the exam. In RRB Group D 2018, you will be asked questions on three sections i.e., Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and Current Events. Once you are familiar with the subjects, types of questions, weightage of each topic, then you are good to go.
