5 Things You Need To Know Before Class 12th Maths Examination

Mathematics is one of the most scoring subjects. Though students practice well for their class 12th Maths paper, but many of them are averse to the subject. This may be due to mere fear for the subject or they are sometimes not confident enough. It is only through practice and time management that one can score high in their class 12th Maths examination.

5 Tips for Class 12th Maths Examination

Since Boards are nearing closer, and you will be occupied with exam preparation, there are chances that you might forget some important things to follow during your exams. Here, we are providing some important things that you should follow while attempting class 12th Maths Examination:

1. Utilise the first 15 minutes

Questions on probability and the ones that are application-based are actually tricky. It is always advisable to read the question again-and-again to understand the context, as some key information might be hidden in the texts of the problem. So, as soon as you get the question paper, utilise the first 15 minutes to read and identify the probability and application-based questions, and underline the necessary keywords.

2. Solve the Known questions with maximum marks first

According to the latest sample papers released by CBSE, Class 12th Maths question paper is divided into four sections — Section A comprising 4 questions of one mark each, Section B comprising 8 questions of two marks each, Section C comprising 11 questions of 4 marks each and Section D comprising 6 questions of six marks each. Section D actually comprises 50% of the entire paper. You should attempt those questions first that carry more marks and the ones which you know how to solve. This will save your time and help you to prevent wasting time on repeated attempts in solving those questions you don’t know. So, try attempting the questions of section D then try attempting questions of other sections as per the marking schemes.

3. Re-check your answers with Standard formulas and equations

In certain questions, the final answers can be checked and verified on the spot which can help to know if you have solved the questions correctly or not. For example, in the matrix method, by substituting values of x, y and z in any of the given equations, by evaluating the integral directly, the limit of sum can be checked. Also, by using the standard formulae, if vertices are given, students can check their answers in some AOI questions. So, check and verify your answers before submitting the answer sheet.

4. Attempt all questions

Since, there is no negative marking, you should try attempting all the questions. This will help you to score high in your class 12th Maths Exam paper. Moreover, each equation or formula carries some marks, writing the correct steps will earn you some marks, hence try your best to solve them even if you are unable to provide the correct answers. Writing the correct steps will earn you some marks. So, do not leave any question unanswered or you may lose marks unreasonably.

5. Be relax before the exam

Exam creates nervousness in many students and they lose marks for answering wrong out of confusion. You are advised to keep calm and stay confident during your exams as you have prepared enough. Sleep well before your exam day and eat healthy. This will improve your concentration during the exam.

  5. Properties of definite integrals (NCERT textbook Exercise 11)
  6. Application of integrals (chapter 8)
  7. Concept of line and plane in 3-D (chapter 11)
  8. Linear programming (chapter 12)
  9. Baye’s theorem (NCERT textbook Exercise 3)
  10. Maxima/Minima application problems (NCERT textbook Exercise 5)
